A demo for the MAD-65 console

HOW TO RUN
----------
Run start_demo.bat. The madsim simulator opens with the demo (the screen is
rotated by 90 degrees, as on an arcade cabinet's monitor standing upright).
To quit: Esc. The demo loops and needs no input. It runs on the madsim
simulator, which reproduces the MAD-65 console cycle by cycle, at the pace of
the real hardware.

Simulator keys: Esc - quit, Space or P - pause, M - mute,
F3 - CPU load view, F11 - full screen, F12 - rotate by 90 degrees.

WHAT THE DEMO IS FOR
--------------------
This demo is meant to show what the MAD-65 console can do and to get people
interested in it: sprites, bitmap graphics, vectors, FM and PSG sound and
speech - all at once, in real time, on a one-bit screen. Every screen tells
the viewer what they are looking at.

The demo code was written with the help of Claude Code (an AI programming
assistant from Anthropic), in collaboration with the author.

WHAT IS MAD-65
--------------
MAD-65 (Monochrome Arcade Device) is a home-built game console based on two
65C02 processors running in parallel at 14.3 MHz, with no off-the-shelf
graphics chips. One processor runs the program, the other draws the picture
(400 x 300, 1 bit, 60 frames per second). The console consists of three
printed circuit boards, and the sound comes from SN76489 and YM2413 chips.
There are two Amiga-compatible joystick ports (with two buttons each). More
about the console: mad65.codepainters.com.

So far the games C.E.T.A.S. (steering a sperm whale in the deep) and
Escape From Saturn (alpha version available) have been made for it; this demo
is the first general showcase of what the machine itself can do.

WHAT IS MADSIM
--------------
madsim is a MAD-65 console simulator written in Rust. It reproduces both
processors cycle by cycle, plus the GPU, the sound and the joysticks, and
keeps the pace of the real hardware (60.3 frames per second). Programs are
written for the MAD-65 console; the simulator is used to run and test them
without the hardware.
.\madsim.exe --mix -0.5 --tate --gpu roms\gpu_os.bin --cpu1 roms\cpu_os.bin --cart roms\cart.bin
